| Mercedes-Benz
is leading the way in innovating technologies and part of its process is
a detailed testing schedule.
From the development of a concept
through to it becoming a reality, the Mercedes-Benz team looks at many
different areas to make sure the vehicles are the safest on the road.
Mercedes-Benz has been testing
the new B-Class F-Cell in Sweden, a project that involves many different
parties, not just engineers.
"Apart from research and development,
all the relevant departments for product development have been in on the
project from the very beginning. That includes sales, purchasing, quality
management, and even aftersales and customer care," said Anton Sonntag,
project manager.
Running on electric motors, the
F-Cell is pioneering the most innovative drive technologies and offers
power of 320Nm.
As the test drivers run through
the new technologies, the data is fed into a black box and back to analysts
in a studio.
"It’s a bit like the technology
used in Formula One racing," said Jurgen Friedrich, the man in charge of
operation and service for the F-Cell test fleet.
"Everyone involved in this development
project is thrilled with the driving performance of the cars and the robustness
of the technology. With the B-Class F-Cell, we’ve taken another major step
toward the series production of a fuel cell car," Mr Sonntag said. |
