LAS VEGAS, NV -- SymPowerco Corporation (PINKSHEETS: SYMW) has entered the race to provide Alternative Energy and Power Solutions to the consumer and industrial marketplaces through its acquisition of Flowing Electrolyte Direct Methanol Fuel Cell and related technologies.

The company believes that the Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) provides a shorter path to commercialization than the hydrogen PEM-based fuel cell does, primarily due to the lack of infrastructure required to deliver and store hydrogen. Methanol, an alcohol with the formula CH3OH and a very high energy density, is easily transported and stored. The DMFC releases hydrogen from methanol and in the process produces electricity. However, current DMFC technologies present obstacles to creating practical consumer power systems.

SymPowerco's Flowing Electrolyte Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (FE DMFC) offers several advantages over the conventional PEM-based DMFC:

1) The expensive, solid Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) in the conventional PEM DMFC is replaced with both a less expensive, low-resistance PEM and with sulfuric acid as the flowing electrolyte, the same acid found in automotive batteries.

2) The flowing electrolyte prevents significant power losses due to methanol "crossover" found in conventional PEM DMFC.

3) The FE DMFC has superior startup and shutdown performance with far greater protection of the expensive catalysts.

4) The FE DMFC shows more constant voltage over its output range than the PEM DMFC.

5) The FE DMFC provides simple heat and water management.

6) The FE DMFC provides a built-in means to remove reaction products and impurities continuously during operation.

The company's management is of the opinion that these advantages present SymPowerco with the opportunity to bring the first practical fuel cell to market for small-vehicle hybrid power systems. To that end, the company is currently establishing the scientific, developmental and marketing relationships that are required to move these technologies into the marketplace. Starting in the days ahead, the company will be releasing details of these relationships along with details of the company's plans and achievements.

President John N. Davenport stated, "We at SymPowerco believe that the Flowing Electrolyte Direct Methanol Fuel Cell has huge potential. Our research indicates that multiple markets around the world exist for Alternative Power Systems that employ advanced technologies and renewable eco-friendly energy sources. We believe that SymPowerco can be a significant participant in these emerging markets."

SymPowerco Corp is an independent Alternative Energy and Energy Technology company focused on the development of practical long-term, sustainable energy solutions through the cultivation of innovative strategies that directly respond to the most recent developments in the energy and technology sectors.
