Iwatani International Corp. (TSE:8088) unveiled on Monday a truck that can transport both a fuel cell vehicle and a mobile hydrogen station.

The truck will be used in efforts to publicize fuel cell vehicles in areas that do not have hydrogen stations.

The company adjusted a 10-ton truck so that it could carry a mobile hydrogen station with a 240 cu. meter capacity and a fuel cell car. The hydrogen, contained in 12 cylinders, is enough to fill up a fuel cell car twice.

Fuel cell vehicles can travel about 300km when fully charged. The new truck, if it transports a full vehicle, will make it possible to run a car almost 1,000km in a region without a hydrogen station.

The cost of creating the truck was 44 million yen (US$404,000).
