 Fuel Cell Vehicle Ride-and-Drive at 4th Annual CONGRESSIONAL FUEL CELL EXPO on Capitol Hill: Bi-Partisan Congressional Sponsors to Speak

More than 35 fuel cell industry leaders will exhibit at the 2004 CONGRESSIONAL FUEL CELL EXPO on June 22, 2004, in the Cannon Caucus Room of the Cannon House Office Building on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The event will also feature a fuel cell vehicle available for a ride-and-drive.

Rep. Nancy Johnson (R-CT), Rep. John Larson (D-CT), Sen. Conrad Burns (R-MT) and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) are sponsoring this year's event. All have been invited to provide opening remarks to EXPO attendees and exhibitors. Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham, as well as Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) and Sen. Pete Domenici (R-NM) have also been invited to speak.

The General Motors Hydrogen 3 Opel Zafira minivan will be available on Garfield Circle - at the base of the Capitol directly across from the Botanical Gardens - for a Ride-and-Drive by Members of Congress, their staff and the public. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ride on a fuel cell scooter prototype by Parker Hannifin. The EXPO is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required. Attendees can cool down with free Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and will receive a free EXPO memento. The EXPO is a function of the US Fuel Cell Council, the trade association of the fuel cell industry, and supported by the Department of Energy.

USFCC members are taking advantage of this year's Congressional Fuel Cell Expo and the many industry leaders it draws by hosting several face-to-face "task force" meetings. The Single Cell Testing Task Force has been working on several testing protocols related to PEM fuel cells, and will hold a work session the morning of the Expo on outlining a durability testing protocol, finalizing their test station verification protocol, and other items. The newly-activated Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Task Force will also meet to further discuss its activities plan.
