 Fifth Annual Methanol Forum to Be Held in Toronto

ARLINGTON, Va. and HOUSTON--The Methanol Institute and its member companies have again joined with Jim Jordan & Associates to host the premier methanol conference being held in North America in 2007. The 2007 Methanol Forum will take place Wednesday, October 17th and Thursday, October 18th at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, Canada. This year's theme is "Going on Offense: Forging Balance in a Changing Methanol World," and program highlights include:

-- Bruce Aitken, President & CEO, Methanex Corporation, will present "The Methanol Industry Under Assault: The Need for a Coordinated Effort to Protect the Industry";

-- Joseph Bevilaqua, Executive VP and President, Hexion Specialty Chemicals, will highlight "Economic Issues Facing the Formaldehyde Industry";

-- Lawrence Duprey, Chairman of the Board, Methanol Holdings Trinidad, Ltd (MHTL), will discuss "Shaping the Future of the Methanol Industry";

-- Helene Berggren, Manager Shipping & Operations, Statoil, will address "Impact of the European REACH Program on the Global Methanol Industry";

-- Chairman John Bresland, U.S. Chemical Safety Board, will present "Accident Investigation: Bethune Point Wastewater Plant";

-- Asst. Prof. Sharaaz Hosein, University of Trinidad and Tobago & Vishard Chandool, of MHTL, will present "Methanol to Power: A Demonstration Unit On Line"; and

-- Richard Mount, North Shore Energy Technologies & Zolt Pukanecz, Air Products, will discuss "Methanol Production from Bio-Mass."

The 2007 Methanol Forum will feature international speakers discussing topical issues including the booming methanol market in China, MTBE and Clean Fuels, and the emerging role of methanol as a transportation fuel. Program sessions will focus on the latest issues impacting methanol, biodiesel, dimethyl-ether (DME), and fuel cell technology.

The 2007 Methanol Forum will be held from 8:15 AM to 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 17th, and from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM on Thursday, October 18th. Event sponsors include: Ashland; Atlantic Methanol Company; Continental Industries; Johnson Matthey; Methanex; Methanol Holdings Trinidad Ltd.; Metor; and Recochem.
