Demonstration of fuel cell auxiliary power units installed in sailing yacht, motor home and cabin

Voller Energy Group PLC, the leading developer of fuel cells systems, will be hosting a series of events in London for investors and analysts to view its Emerald fuel cell auxiliary power units (APU’s) installed in a Beneteau 411 sailing yacht, an MCL motor home and a GenQuip construction site cabin. These systems are unique as they run from propane, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or Calor Gas.

The Beneteau sailing cruiser is a 41ft boat that is taking part in the Atlantic Rallye for Cruisers (ARC) leaving in November from Gran Canaria. The boat is equipped with a Voller Energy Emerald fuel cell system that automatically charges the yacht’s batteries, but with very little noise, vibration or toxic emissions. The fuel cell uses the Calor Gas (propane or LPG) that is on board for cooking.

The MCL motor home, or recreational vehicle (RV), uses the fuel cell to replace a LPG generator on board, providing power for the sophisticated electronics on board but with much lower emissions. The construction site welfare cabin would normally use a diesel generator, instead the fuel cell generates the power required but with much lower emissions.

The yacht will be moored at St Katharine’s Dock in London, near Tower Bridge.  Investors and analysts are invited to view the boat on the 2 October, 4 October, 9 October, 16 October or 23 October.

In addition, the cabin and motor home will be available outside the QEII Conference Centre opposite Westminster Abbey near the Houses or Parliament during the 10th Grove Fuel Cell event from 25th to 27th September.

Stephen Voller, Chief Executive of Voller Energy commented: "The significance of these installations is that this is the first time that fuel cell systems have been available that operate from commonly available fuels. These installations, which do not need large hydrogen tanks, produce fewer emissions, reduce maintenance and servicing and are much quieter than traditional generators. ”
