Power Inc. has hired a manager of investor relations, a position the fuel-cell
developer hasn't had in more than four years.
Plug (Nasdaq: PLUG) of Latham tapped
Cathy Yudzevich, former manager of investor relations at nearby Philips
MR, formerly Intermagnetics General Corp. Her position was eliminated after
Intermagnetics was acquired by Royal Philips Electronics for $1.3 billion
last year.
Yudzevich starts at Plug in September.
The last time the company had someone devoted solely to investor relations
was Steven Zenker more than four years ago.
Gerry Anderson, Plug's chief financial
officer, said much of the information work has been done out of the company's
media relations department or handled by Anderson and CEO Roger Saillant.
"We're at a point now where we want
to have a more concentrated focus and effort on getting the Plug Power
name out there and doing what we need to do to get the publicity of what
we're doing and keeping the analysts up to date."
Anderson most recently was treasurer
and director of finance at Intermagnetics. He was considered instrumental
in Intermagnetics' merger and acquisition efforts. Anderson replaced interim
chief financial officer David Waldek, who joined the company in February.
Waldek, a former CFO at drug discovery company Albany Molecular Research
Inc., is now Plug's vice president of finance.
Anderson is excited by Yudzevich
joining Plug.
"I know Cathy very well," he said.
"She's known in the community and well connected with the investment banks
and analyst community. We're looking for her to bring that same skill set
here to broaden awareness of Plug Power. Stuff she did at Intermagnetics
is exactly what we're asking her to do here at Plug Power."
