Bismarck, N.D. (AP) Can you really make hydrogen fuel from wind? It's being demonstrated this afternoon near Minot.

The two (m) million-dollar wind-to-hydrogen plant uses electricity from wind turbines to produce and store hydrogen.

It's a collaboration of Basin Electric Power Cooperative ... the University of North Dakota's Energy and Environmental Research Center ... North Dakota State University's North Central Research Extension Center and other partners.

It will be dedicated today. Senator Byron Dorgan will be on hand. He pushed for funding for the project for about three years.

Basin spokesman Daryl Hill says the hydrogen produced at the plant will be used to fuel three pickups and a tractor. He says it's a first for North Dakota.
