| LONDON--Ceres
Power Holdings PLC said it will hold a demonstration of its combined heat
and power (CHP) unit in September as it prepares to commercialise its CHP
technology.
As part of its residential CHP programme
with British Gas, the AIM-qouted fuel cell group has designed a wall-mounted
CHP unit, which can generate home electricity, central heating and hot
water requirements.
It signed a commercial development
agreement with British Gas in 2005 to provide 'green' domestic boilers
which have the potential to dramatically reduce household energy bills
and cut carbon dioxide emissions.
The company said it is now focused
on scaling-up the core manufacturing processes of the CHP unit to meet
expected customer demand.
Ceres stands to benefit from government
incentives for microgeneration, or generating electricity and heat at the
point of use, thus saving energy and reducing carbon - an initiative introduced
in the Energy White Paper in May.
The white paper sets out plans for
driving up demand for microgeneration through recognition of the potential
of the technology, as well as financial incentives for exporting excess
electricity.
