| UK fuel cell
materials company Bac2 is transferring to a newly inaugurated site within
the Millbrook Technology Campus from its current site at the University
of Southampton.
The design of the Technology Campus,
where the company is leasing trial laboratories and new offices, has been
inspired by the High-Tech Park in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
The campus is situated on a 16-acre
property at Millbrook owned by NXP Semiconductors. Bac2 manufactures a
conductive polymer for use in fuel cells.
It expects that its Electrophen material,
designed for application in the bipolar plates of fuel cells, will be in
the manufacturing line by the end of 2007.
In addition to hiring new personnel,
the company has put in some #10,000 in an automated fuel cell station built
by H2Economy.
Bac2 aims to exploit its capability
to step up development of customized types of Electrophen, which can be
made at room temperature levels.
A DTI technology project involving
the company and the University of Portsmouth, where it previously conducted
test work, is slated for completion in Nov 2007.
