| Letters
of intent for further collaboration being signed
On
06.02.2007 the German company Pfalzwerke ceased the first test stage of
their research programme on the central hospital's energy supply with the
high temperature carbon fuel cell successfully. After the proud performance
of nearly 27.000 operation hours, the molton carbonate fuel cell (MCFC)
named HotModule was carried back to CFC Solutions' plant in Munich to gather
experience for the continuous development of technology.
The cell stack was removed from the
fuel cell by a truck-mounted crane and loaded on a transporter. Meanwhile
Environment Minister Margit Conrad, Head of the District Authority Sabine
Röhl, Member of the Board of Pfalzwerke Dr. Werner Hitschler and CEO
of CFC Solutions, Michael Bode, signed the letters of intent for a follow-up
project and presented the current standard of technology of the MCFC as
well as the concept of the follow-up project.
CFC Solutions will install components
of the "Euro cell" made in Germany. Instead of the downstreamed chiller
an ORC aggregate by City Solar will be applied, which unlike today, not
only uses the exhaust heat for domestic water heating, but moreover produces
power. The new installation will provide 245kW electrical and 180kW thermal
energy and will altogether have an higher electrical efficiency and an
improved performance.
The new fuel cell plant will presumably
start operation in autumn.
