| Norilsk Nickel
will spin off a company, which will be engaged in the production of alternative
energy.
As the Russian nickel producing giant's
former General Director Mikhail Prokhorov told journalists in Krasnoyarsk
today, a company is about to be created in the region, which will combine
traditional and hydrogen energy generation enterprises.
According to Prokhorov, it is expected
that hydrogen energy will account for 20 percent of the new company's overall
energy generation.
Norilsk Nickel's press office explained
that this company would not include enterprises that are part of the parent
company's Polar division, since they are responsible for the Siberian city
Norilsk's energy security. The recently acquired OGK-3 assets may serve
as the basis for the new energy company.
