Humboldt State University's is building a hydrogen fueling station with $350,000 in funding from Chevron Technology Ventures, a division of San Ramon-based Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX).

The station is being built through California's Hydrogen Highway program, which is part of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's plan to increase the use of alternative fuels.

Humboldt's Schatz Energy Research Program will undertake the project, which will include a system to produce hydrogen on-site.
