Player starts field tests of P21’s Premion Fuel Cell Systems
Brunnthal, Germany, January 29, 2007.
P21 GmbH, a leading provider of fuel cell based backup power supporting
the telecommunications industry, is now ready to deliver two 3kW fuel cell
systems to a large
Mobile Network Operator in South
Africa for testing.
The six weeks field tests will start
at the beginning of February 2007 in Gauteng, the district around Johannesburg
and Pretoria. P21 is conducting high temperature tests, in an area with
a very high population and extreme operating conditions. The two parallel
Premion T fuel cell systems are designed to meet wide-ranging needs: a
Base Station with a monthly blackout rate of more than 20hrs will be protected
by our state-of-the-art fuel cell backup system.
Together with our local partner we
take care of supplying and the installation of the Premion T systems and
of monitoring this trial period.
The complete gas management will
also be rendered by P21 in conjunction with a local hydrogen supplier.
“P21 is the first fuel cell company
that signed a contract with a South African MNO. This approach is also
expected to position us well for significant growth opportunities among
a variety of customer-specific
requirements”, said Dieter Braechtken,
CEO of P21 GmbH.
