The CaFCP Steering Team chair position changes every year, rotating through the four categories of partners: auto manufacturers, energy providers, fuel cell technology companies and government agencies.
The vice chair becomes the chair the following year. Verdugo-Peralta will be taking over the position from John Brady, Vice President of Technology at Chevron.
Cynthia Verdugo-Peralta was appointed to the AQMD Governing Board as the air pollution control specialist member by Governor Davis in 2000. She currently chairs the AQMD’s Ethnic Community Advisory Group, serves as vice-chair of the AQMD Technology Committee and serves on several other AQMD standing committees including the Local Government & Small Business Assistance Advisory Group and the Permit Streamlining Task Force. She has been AQMD’s representative on the CaFCP Steering Team, and has also represented AQMD in the DOE’s International Partnership for a Hydrogen Economy, the California Stationary Fuel Cell Collaborative and on Governor Schwarzenegger’s Hydrogen Highway Implementation Advisory Panel.
Jan van Dokkum became president of UTC Power in October 2002. Van Dokkum has been instrumental in advancing UTC Power's on-site power generation product and service offerings, including fuel cell, geothermal and combined cooling, heating and power applications for commercial and industrial markets. In addition, he has focused the company's fuel cell activities toward transportation, working with the world's leading automotive OEMs and seeking out other early uses for fuel cells in transit bus, marine, space and defense applications. Van Dokkum is a member of the U.S. Department of Energy, Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Advisory Committee (HTAC). He serves on the board of directors of WestStart-CALSTART. He is a senior member of IEEE and serves on the executive committees of the Hydrogen Executive Leadership Panel (HELP) and National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM).
The California Fuel Cell Partnership looks forward to 2007 and the expertise and leadership these two individuals will provide.
