Multi-Year Contract for the Purchase of Integrated Backup Power PEM Fuel Cell Systems

BEND, OR-- IdaTech, LLC, a global fuel cell solutions developer and manufacturer, today announced that the company has received an award based on a competitive process certifying it as an approved fuel cell supplier by the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA). In response to a Request for Proposal issued by The State of Washington to support and foster the use of fuel cell systems, IdaTech was chosen as a qualified supplier of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells systems for backup power applications in each of the two recognized categories -- systems in the 1-kWe to 5-kWe range and the 5-kWe to 30-kWe range.

The contract with WSCA, a group consisting of 15 Western US states, specifies that the selected manufacturers will provide participating states with fuel cell power units for backup power applications for both indoor and outdoor applications. Manufacturers were evaluated on several criteria, including design specifications, reliability, overall value and responses to a number of scenarios supported by customer testimonials.

"We are very pleased to have been chosen by the Western States Contracting Alliance as a preferred supplier of PEM fuel cell solutions. This competitive selection process validates IdaTech's ElectraGen(TM) family of backup power products as leading solutions for reliable backup power generation in a wide variety of potential applications, including situations in which extended run times are required," commented IdaTech President and Chief Executive Officer Claude Duss.

"Selection as an approved vendor for WSCA provides IdaTech with an important sales channel for our fuel cell products into emergency communications and monitoring networks, such as police, fire, etc. for 15 state and local government organizations," added Senior Vice President of Development and Commercialization Hal Koyama. "Through this selection process, IdaTech's power generation and hydrogen purification products were identified as competitive solutions in the industry, helping to validate IdaTech's fuel cell technology for these applications."
