Malvern, PA-- Franklin Fuel Cells, Inc. has now officially been named an Outstanding Presentation Award winner at the 2006 U.S. Department of Energy’s NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) Industry Growth Forum held in Philadelphia in late October. The Forum’s mission “seeks to commercialize emerging clean-energy technologies by bringing early stage clean energy companies together with venture capitalists and investors.”

While named a winner just after the completion of the national forum, the official announcement came just recently. Franklin was singled out for one of the national forum’s three awards for the excellence of its presentation given by company president and CEO, John Law.

What makes the award particularly significant for Franklin Fuel Cells is that it first had to be chosen as one of the 33 “emerging clean-energy companies” permitted to present at the Forum from a list of over 100 companies who applied. The 33 chosen companies then presented their business plans to the Forum’s panel of clean-energy venture capitalists and investors who questioned each one about aspects of its presentation and then provided immediate feedback and guidance. Following the panelists’ questions, the members of the audience of over 400 investors were permitted to ask questions of their own. The panel then critiqued each of the presentations and voted on the three who would win the awards.

This year’s Forum was hosted by NREL, the Clean Energy Alliance, the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development, and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. The 20th NREL Industry Growth Forum will be held next Fall 2007 in Denver, Colorado.

About Franklin Fuel Cells:

Franklin Fuel Cells is a venture-backed fuel-cell technology company located in Malvern, PA, about 30 miles from downtown Philadelphia, PA. It was founded in 2002 to commercialize a unique type of solid oxide fuel cell that can operate directly on real sulfur-containing fuels without the need for costly, complex, and efficiency-robbing de-sulfurizers or reformers.

Franklin’s proprietary SOFC technology is the only one that has already been tested, demonstrated and proven on 17 different hydrocarbon fuels including 93-octane pump gas, diesel and JP-8  virtually every commercially-available liquid and gaseous hydrocarbon fuel. This success is due to Franklin’s patented Copper-Ceria anode technology which has both a high Sulfur tolerance in excess of 500ppm, and does not “foul” when exposed to hydrocarbon fuels.
