MUMBAI: The automobile industry is all set to welcome a new generation of scooter in the days to come.

An Italian company is busy these days in doing the R&D for 'Hysyrider'- a scooter which operates on the Hydrogen run fuel-cells.

The model was put on display during the seminar on 'Italian Lifestyle and Living Trends' which was held here recently as part of the ongoing, month-long Italian Festival/Festa Italiana 2006. The seminar was hosted by Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).

Talking about the features of 'Hysyrider', the MD of GR Grafica, the firm which is planning to bring the scooter to the market, Giacomo Beltramo, told UNI ''So far we've been able to manufacture merely four prototypes of the model and further researches are on in my company's laboratory''. However, he hoped that soon the model
will be ready to hit the roads.

The scooter is not only eco-friendly, but also equipped with no-noise machinery. Also, the maximum speed of the scooter is 20km/hr which simply means that it can be found more useful in closed areas like harbours, airports, city centres, he said.
