| Cabot Corporation
announced today it has changed the name of its Cabot Energy Materials business
to Cabot Fuel Cells, effective immediately. Cabot also announced plans
to introduce additional commercial modified carbon and corrosion resistant
carbon-based fuel cell products beginning in early 2007.
Greg Romney, General Manager, Cabot
Fuel Cells said, “This name change will help establish wider recognition
of Cabot as a supplier of materials to the fuel cell industry, building
on our longstanding recognition as an R&D leader in materials solutions
to the fuel cell and energy sector. We believe that this name change clearly
communicates our plans for growth by launching validated breakthrough fuel
cell products for use by multiple industries in electronics, consumer,
military and automotive markets.”
The soon-to-be released carbon-based
products were developed using Cabot’s proprietary carbon technologies and
surface modification processes. The first new Modified Carbon and Corrosion-Resistant
Carbon-based electrocatalyst material product to be launched will be an
automotive-grade material with exceptional corrosion resistance combined
with high performance under industry standard protocols for accelerated
durability testing.
