| DAYTON — A
California-based fuel cell company will open a Dayton-area production plant
that will employ 360 people over four years, according to Ohio Gov. Bob
Taft's office.
Taft spokeswoman Jane Bosak said
the governor and executives from Livermore, Calif.-based Ultracell Corp.
will announce the company's production plans in Dayton Wednesday afternoon.
Ultracell has posted an opening for
a vice president of operations in Dayton on its Web site, ultracellpower.com.
Ultracell has developed an advanced,
lightweight fuel cell to power laptop computers and other portable devices.
The company developed the device for the military but plans to commercialize
it, according to industry news reports on the Internet.
An Ultracell press release said it
has a contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson
Air Force Base for an unspecified number of units of its new XX25, a 25-watt,
reformed methanol fuel cell system.
