German engineers, scientists and technicians are developing a glider with a fuel cell drive.

The innovative aircraft, to be known as the HYFLY3000, is being developed by volunteers who intend to create greater awareness of fuel cell technology and set a new long-distance flight record.

The fuel cell is expected to provide the aircraft with enough energy to keep it gliding, and the power for takeoff will come from a battery to be recharged by the fuel cell in flight.
