TÜBITAK which has been organising Solar Powered Cars' Race to help promote growing consciousness about alternative and environment friendly energy sources, is organising a Hydrogen Powered Cars race.

According to Turkish Scientific & Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBITAK) officials, the council which has started "The initiative for helping the youth to transform their knowledge to products" with "Formula G" is extending the initiative to include Hydrogen Technology.

In this perspective the race "Hydromobile 07" will be organised next year. TÜBITAK is hoping that Turkish innovators will come up with successful models which will help Turkey be among leading countries in the field.

The race track will be 2 to 2.5 km long and the cars will weigh between 150-300kg. 22 teams from various universities have already applied to the race. The application deadline for the race is December 31st 2006 and it will take place in either Ankara or Izmir.
