The aim of the Revolve event is to place hydrogen and fuel cell powered vehicles firmly in the public eye and demonstrate that they are a viable alternative. The 53-mile vehicle run will go from Brighton’s famous Madeira Drive to Trafalgar Square in London, where the vehicles will be welcomed into the city by the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone.
The vehicles will have a celebrity launch at the start line in Brighton at 10.30 on the 22nd of September, and then drive, in convoy, to Trafalgar Square, arriving at 16.30. There will be a stopover en route in Croydon where the cars will be joined by Transport for London’s Mercedes fuel cell bus.
Following the rally, the fleet will be displayed between 11.00 and 16.00 at Speaker’s Corner in London’s Hyde Park on the 23rd and 24th of September, with opportunities for members of the public and international press to drive the cars and have their questions answered by representatives from the car manufacturers and fuel companies.
The event is expected to achieve significant national and international press interest. The Sunday Times newspaper will be covering all aspects of the Revolve Brighton to London rally, and will be producing a special edition revolve supplement a few days before the event. In addition, there will be a 3 month Times Online campaign promoting the event, including a Sunday Times revolve supplement microsite linked to the main Times Online website. Sponsors are also provided with a range of editorial and advertising opportunities.
“The Revolve Brighton to London rally is perhaps the most public demonstration of low and zero-emission vehicles ever to be held in the UK. Public and press alike will be able to see the future of motoring in action, with cars from the world’s largest and most innovative car manufacturers on display. Public access to the cars in London and Brighton, combined with significant media coverage, will ensure that a positive message will go out - sustainable motoring is firmly on its way”, said Revolve Director Steven Glaser.
