(Frankfurt) - PEMEAS Fuel Cell Technologies announced tthat it has raised € 6 million in equity capital from its existing investors. The capital will be used to support the continued growth of PEMEAS in key markets such as portable electronics, back-up power and stationary fuel cell systems.

Incorporated in April 2004, PEMEAS has so far received € 26 million venture capital from its shareholders. “The proceeds from the current financing round enable us to further improve our product development and manufacturing capabilities so that we can capture exciting near term commercial opportunities”,says Dr. Horst-Tore Land, President & CEO of PEMEAS.

The commitment of its existing shareholders highlights the success of PEMEAS in positioning the company as a leading supplier of key components to the emerging fuel cell industry. Its broad product portfolio centered around the unique Celtec®–P high temperature technology comprises catalysts, gas diffusion layers and electrodes, and membrane electrode assemblies for PEM Fuel Cells and Direct Methanol Fuel Cells.

PEMEAS is serving an international customer base with a particular focus on rapidly growing markets such as portable electronics, back-up power and stationary fuel cells.

PEMEAS GmbH is a global leader in catalysts, gas diffusion electrodes and membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) for polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) and direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC).

PEMEAS is the only commercial supplier of high temperature MEAs that are marketed under the brand name Celtec ?. The E-TEK division of PEMEAS offers a broad range of catalysts, gas diffusion layers and electrodes, and MEAs for low temperature PEM fuel cells and DMFC.

PEMEAS continues the fuel cell activities of the former Hoechst Group and Gruppo De Nora. The company is backed by a consortium comprising leading Venture Capital firms like CDP Capital Technology Ventures, Conduit Ventures, P/S BankInvest New Energy Solutions and SAM Private Equity as well as industrial investors like Celanese AG, Gruppo De Nora and Infraserv Hoechst.
