SHANGHAI-- After the Beijing debut, the hydrogen-fueled cell bus is expected to enter Shanghai residents life by the end of this year.

Different from Beijing's Benz bus, the hydrogen fuel cell bus to be presented in Shanghai is under the joint development and manufacturing of the prestigious Shanghai Jiaotong University, local Shanghai fuel cell company Shenli High Tech Co. and China's indigenous automaker Suzhou King Long.

The Shanghai hydrogen fuel cell model is developed based on King Long' newest high-class city bus, with a change on the previous fuel system and mounting 9 hydrogen storage tanks on the top of the bus, which was powered by electricity generated through chemical reaction of fuel cell, while discharging water.

The rated power of the new model will be 100KW, with the maximum speed able to reach 80KM/hour.

The bus is estimated to be sold at about CNY 3 million.
