| Members of
the PURE team were in attendance at the Scottish Parliament this week under
invitation from Eleanor Scott of the Scottish Green Party.
During the two day event, between
Tuesday the 20th and Wednesday 21st, PURE gave an exhibition into their
efforts in the lobby of the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood, Edinburgh.
The display, also on behalf of the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Association,
and the Community Energy Company, attracted mass attention from a range
of MSPs interested in learning of the latest technology.
Concurrently, PURE’s hydrogen powered
vehicle, the only road legal hydrogen vehicle in the UK, was on display
in Our Dynamic Earth, nearby. Whilst in Our Dynamic Earth, the vehicle
was the focus of 100s of children’s attention, each asking the same question:
“Why are we not driving these cars now?”
On Tuesday evening, PURE’s Sandy
Macaulay presented on the community benefits of small renewable energy
systems to a group of MSPs, outlining the importance of initiatives in
the same vein as PURE.
As a parting display of the success
of the PURE Project and its ongoing work, Transport Minister, Tavish Scott
MSP drove the emission free PURE car from Holyrood up the Royal Mile to
Bute House in Charlotte Square for the weekly cabinet meeting.
Commenting on the success of the
trip, PURE’s Sandy Macaulay stated: “This visit stimulated a great deal
of interest in the technology for replacing fossil fuel vehicles in public
car pools, to hydrogen powered alternatives”.
