SunLine Transit Agency, the local bus line that has been lauded nationally and internationally for leading the way on "green" transportation, today honored Congresswoman Mary Bono, R-Palm Springs, with a crystal key for her efforts in obtaining $800,000 in grant funds for a Sero Emission Hyrdrogen Fuel Cell Bus, in service since December 2005.

About 50 local community and business leaders were at the presentation in Thousand Palms.

"Congressswoman Bono helped the Coachella Valley receive the most advanced mass transit bus on the market today with our Zero Emission Fuel Cell Bus. She also helped us secure funding for our first Hydrogen Hybrid bus in 2003 and assisted us in obtaining grants so we could buils an on-site hydrogen fueling station. She's been a key player in helping us put hyrdrogen power into motion. We are very grateful for her continued support," said Sunline General Manager C. Mikel Oglesby.

To make sure that all Coachella Valley residents have an opportunity to experience the new, ultra-quiet Zero Emission Cell Bus, Sunline Transit Agency is offering free rides on the bus now through Labor Day weekend.
