ECG
has equipped a telefone-cell of the German T-Com with a hydrogen powered
fuel cell system.
The installation shows prospects
for the independent and flexible positioning and operation not only of
telephone cells, but in general for machines, terminals and similar equipment.
The demonstration model was taken
in operation on May 11, 2006 on the Börsenplatz in Cologne.
The starting button was pushed by
Arnold Zimmermann, Head of Public Telephony of T-Com.
Also the Northrhine-Westfalian Ministry
of Economy, Mrs. Christa Thoben was on site and handled a first call from
the phone cell to her office.
The project is completely financed
by private capital. The first regular operation will start in the beginning
of June at the same place in Cologne and will take approx. five to six
weeks.
