Intelligent
Energy’s ENV, the world’s first purpose-built hydrogen fuel-cell motorcycle,
was highly commended in the Industry Innovation Design category of this
month’s 2005 EAST Journal Environmental and Sustainable Technology Awards.
The awards, held in the Gladstone
Library of London’s Liberal Club, were open to both private and public
sectors as part of a national event aimed at allowing the United Kingdom’s
environmental leaders to show how they are moving forward with viable environmental
and sustainable technology solutions, lessening their own and their clients’
impact on the environment.
A panel of ten independent, industry
insider judges for the awards, linked to leading environmental publication,
The EAST Journal, included Don Ridley of the Environment Agency, Chris
Hunt, Director General of the UK Petroleum Industry Association and Councillor
Darren Johnson, Chairman of the Greater London Authority Environment Committee.
The new commendation joins the ever-growing
list of awards and validations given to the ground-breaking ENV project
all over the world, including a US Popular Science ‘Best of What’s New’
Award, a listing in the TIME Magazine’s ‘Greatest Innovations of 2005’,
a UK Design Week Award, a finalist place in Italy’s Well-Tech Awards for
Innovation Technology and Sustainability and The Carmen Company’s Award
of Merit 2005, given by London’s prestigious and historic association,
the Worshipful Company of Carmen.
