Brussels, April 20, 2006 – The Board of the European Hydrogen Association (EHA) has appointed Marieke Reijalt as new executive director. Marieke has been the executive director of the Italian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association, H2IT, since it was established in 2003. H2IT succeeded in attracting membership of the main Italian industries active in the sector as well as SME’s and Regions. The new director will head the secretariat of the EHA in Brussels that has been relocated to a bigger office space as of April 18, 2006.

The executive director will be in charge of establishing a strong presence of hydrogen in Brussels by informing policy makers of the contribution of hydrogen as an energy carrier to the creation of a secure, sustainable and innovative European energy and transport system. The EHA provides regular updates of industrial activities and local infrastructure development in Europe and is working closely together with its national member associations in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands to stimulate and report national progress as well as to organize educational activities.

With reference to education the EHA is organizing in collaboration with the French Hydrogen Association (AFH2) and the Italian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (H2IT) an Educational Stand at the World Hydrogen Energy Conference in Lyon, June 13-16, 2006. The stand will host a range of educational activities regarding hydrogen and fuel cells from all over the world (for more info please visit www.whec2006.org) .

The EHA has also selected the site for the next European Hydrogen Energy Conference EHEC. EHEC 2007 will take place in Maastricht in the Netherlands, June 18-22, 2007 and will be organized by the Dutch Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association in collaboration with the EHA.

Together with the German and Spanish Hydrogen Association, the EHA will be present at the Hanover Fair in the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Group Exhibit from April 24 till 28, 2006. You will find us in booth E90/4.

The EHA brings together as active members seven national associations (Association Française de l'Hydrogène, Associazione Italiana Idrogeno e Celle a Combustibile, Norwegian Hydrogen Forum, Swedish H2 Forum, German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association, Dutch Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association and Spanish Hydrogen Association) and six companies (Air Liquide, Air Products, BOC, Hydro, EHN, and Shell Hydrogen).
