| The 2nd edition
of the « Rallye Monte-Carlo Fuel Cell & Hybrids », which
is officially registered on the F.I.A.’s calendar of events, will take
place at the beginning of April 2006, during the EVER MONACO Exhibition.
After the success attained in 2005
during EVS-21, it was decided to include electric propulsion vehicles in
the 1st edition’s list of participants. This decision will perhaps help
to spotlight vehicles that are capable of covering the Rally’s 420 km without
recharging or with one possible recharge (included in the road section
target time) which increases these vehicles’ autonomy.
The Rally will follow exactly the
same itinerary as in 2005 in order to enable comparisons to be made and
hopefully to record improved performances, thereby proving the car manufacturers’
innovation potential.
The town of LUGANO will play host
to the competitors on Friday 31st March for the administrative and technical
scrutineering procedures and will be the venue for the start on 1st April
from 8.30am onwards.
The same itinerary will be used to
cross Italy with only the location of the hydrogen supplies being changed.
After the route through French territory
(from the Tende Pass and the Roya Valley), the scheduled arrival time in
MONACO is 3pm (target time set at 6 hours plus half-hour lunch break) in
front of Grimaldi Forum, avenue Princesse Grace.
Rally participation will undoubtedly
be cause for excitement this year as HONDA is expected to join the other
leading manufacturers already present in 2005 (GM, TOYOTA, DAIMLER CHRYSLER,
HYUNDAI, FIAT) as well as some smaller manufacturers like VENTURI and DASSAULT
who are attracted by the challenge that this unique competition offers.
