Ukraine must create several major world-class players in sectors such as titanium, ferroalloys and nuclear fuel cells, Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov said on February 25 at a meeting with students and faculty of the Poltava Consumer Cooperation University.

"We plan to create several serious, international-level companies. These will be the Atomprom corporation for the nuclear fuel cycle, and a corporation in the titanium sector, where Ukraine has serious reserves. In the ferroalloys sector, it will be the Antonov corporation," Yekhanurov said.

Ukraine also needs to create several other such corporations that could compete in certain niches on the international market, he said. "We should find a few other such corporations, so that we would have 10- 15 world-class corporations," he said.

A decision will soon be made on the merger of four power engineering companies in Kharkiv, Yekhanurov added.
