Yerevan, Armenia – H2 ECOnomy is proud to announce the receipt of a patent for its innovative method of producing enhanced strength conductive composite material.  Utilizing the patented method, H2 ECOnomy produces monopolar, bipolar and cooling plates for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells.  The patent, number 1647A2, was issued by the Republic of Armenia Intellectual Property Agency.  Subsequent to being awarded the Armenian patent, a US patent application was filed (assigned application serial number 11/352218).

The US patent application contains 9 claims and addresses the issue of obtaining simultaneously high electrical/thermal conductivity and high mechanical strength for carbon-polymer composites. Usually, in composite mixtures, the conductivity and strength have an inversely proportional relationship dependent on the carbon filler content. The patented method enables the user/manufacturer to overcome this handicap to a beneficial extent.  The method can be used for manufacture of coatings, electrodes, current collectors and plates in various electrical/electrochemical devices, particularly in fuel cells.

H2 ECOnomy is a vibrant research company leading the way to energy resources for the 21st century.  Located in the beautiful Ararat valley, H2 ECOnomy was established in 2000 with the goal of developing energy resources and investigating fuel cell technologies.  H2 ECOnomy has grown to become a productive research and development company.  The company’s expertise encompasses conductive composite materials, catalyst chemistry, polymer chemistry, electronic design, embedded systems and system integration.  Knowledge in these fields has led to the creation of fuel cells for the educational and demonstration markets, sold worldwide through distributors in the US, Europe and Asia.
