| Dr Mark Lawson-Statham,
COO of Intelligent Energy, will represent the company at this year's WEF
(World Economic Forum) Annual Meeting, to be held in Davos in Switzerland
from 25th - 29th January 2006. The invitation to attend results from the
company's status as a Technology Pioneer 2006, a title granted by the WEF
in December 2005. Intelligent Energy is one of only 36 companies worldwide
to be awarded with this prestigious title for the coming year.
The World Economic Forum launched
the Technology Pioneers programme in 2000 to identify companies which 'develop
and apply cutting-edge transformational technologies in the fields of information
technology, renewable energy, biotechnology and health', recognising that
part of the answer to many of the challenges facing the world today lies
in the development of novel and innovative technologies.
The Annual Meeting 2006 will be officially
opened by Germany's Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, who will give the
plenary speech, focusing on the need for a creative approach to global
challenges. 'We need to reinforce the feeling that global challenges can
be tacked successfully. Germany will champion pragmatic and innovative
solutions. In this context this year's Annual Meeting will provide an excellent
platform for discussions', Chancellor Merkel commented.
Under the overall title of 'The Creative
Imperative', the meeting will cover many topics from 'Changing Economic
Landscapes' to 'Innovation, Creativity and Design Strategy', under the
leadership of five
international co-chairs, including
the CEO of Nestle, the Chairman of Reliance Industries and the UK's Martin
Sorrell, Group CE of WPP.
The meeting will allow Dr Lawson-Statham
to meet representatives from some of the most pioneering enterprises in
today's economic world, explaining the work Intelligent Energy is involved
with in developing clean energy fuel cell applications across many different
market sectors, as well as participating in cutting-edge discussions on
how to bring new creative thinking to some of the most serious problems
on the world's economic agenda.
