A
GREEN technology company from Manchester has turned Trafalgar Square into
a giant laser message board.
Engineering & maintenance specialist
FDT is demonstrating the versatility of an environmentally-friendly power
generation source that runs on hydrogen, produces no noise and the only
emissions are heat and water.
The company is one of the UK's leading
experts on using hydrogen fuel cell technology to provider electrical power
in remote locations.
The hydrogen fuel cell produces no
noise because unlike diesel or gas generators the fuel cell converts the
hydrogen directly into electricity without the need for combustion or the
moving parts normally found in generators and combustion engines.
John Peake, managing director of
FDT, said: "This technology is available and suitable for real applications
and we chose to set up the laser show in London to demonstrate that the
technology can be used in a wide range of applications.
"This is not a laboratory demonstration
and we are already trialling the use of fuel cells as a back up power source
for mobile phone masts."
