--Core Technology to facilitate the introduction of Ilika's Fuel cells and H2 Storage contract research-- |
Ilika is focussed on materials discovery through the use of combinatorial thin film research methodology to create new inorganic materials and the application of high throughput polymer science to optimize membranes and coatings.
The Company’s high throughput techniques can accelerate materials research programmes by up to a factor of 10. They can create novel materials, which are difficult or even impossible to make by other methods, they can reduce costs per experiment, enable greater reproducibility of research results and provide access to expensive research equipment without the need for major capital investment.
Fuel Cells
The Company is researching new compositions
which are free from, or low in, platinum, but which give high current densities
and are resistant to poisoning
Hydrogen Storage
The company is concentrating on
the application of its technology for the discovery of modified alloys
for lightweight metal hydrides with good hydrogen absorption and release
kinetics.
Clients
Ilika collaborates with a broad
range of industrial companies including Asahi Kasei Corporation in Japan
and the Flanders Materials Consortium in Belgium, of which Arcelor, one
of the world’s largest steel companies, and Umicore are members.
