Masterflex is supplying the world's first fleet of bicycles with fuel cell propulsion systems to the city of Herten in North Rhine Westphalia. Thus, the prototype for the fuel cell bicycle, which was first unveiled to the public in 2004, has been developed to production standard in less than a year.

Among other things, the fuel cell bicycles will be incorporated into the overall tourism concept of the district of Recklinghausen and Ruhr-Touristik. Day trips for tourists in Germany's famous Ruhr area should be on offer in time for the 2006 World Cup.

The hydrogen supply and servicing are guaranteed as fleets of ten bicycles and upwards will first be delivered to municipal and commercial providers. A solution has been developed in cooperation with a manufacturer of hydrogen storage systems that provides users with a safe and simple supply of hydrogen.

Parties interested in acquiring bicycle fleets, both municipal and commercial, should not hesitate to contact Stefan Schulte at Masterflex Brennstoffzellentechnik, Konrad-Adenauer-Str. 9-13, D-45699 Herten, Tel. +49 (0) 02366 305 191, schulte@masterflex-bz.de.
