    Greece-Power plant for hydrogen production

Development Minister Dimitris Sioufas on Saturday inaugurated "the pioneering power plant for the production of hydrogen with the use of aeolic energy at the Keratea Energy Park," as stated in a press release by the Development Ministry. In his speech, Sioufas expressed "satisfaction" over the fact that "our country's research community, along with the private sector, pioneer in the research and development of technologies in the much promising sector of hydrogen. He further expressed certainty that "the apparent Hydrogen Economy will create new economic activity and new jobs."

He said:"Our country can contribute in the effort to claim a part of this activity, either by constructing relevant equipment, either utilising installations."

Sioufas added:"The specific project, which was financed within the context of the 5th Research Programme Framework, is of a total budget of 5.4 million euros and participating in this are 14 European research agencies from Greece, Cyprus, Germany, Spain and Portugal. It concerns the installation of a 25 kW unit."

The minister congratulated the "Renewable Sources of Energy Centre" (KAPE) and the "Rokas" company for their contribution in the development of such systems which will allow Greece to pioneer in major sectors for the energy of the future.

Sioufas drove a car which is used in the Park and operates with hydrogen.
