The NetGen(tm) unit is a major breakthrough in the development of fuel cell power generation systems for the household. It is about the size of a standard domestic washing machine, thus significantly smaller than previous demonstration models, yet the unit is designed to produce 1 kWe of electricity, which is sufficient for most domestic requirements. The unit also recovers sufficient waste heat to supplement existing domestic hot water and central heating systems.
As well as being highly efficient, NetGen(tm) emissions are low, the unit makes little noise and is vibration-free. NetGen(tm) produces grid parallel power, which can be distributed to other users via the low voltage network. The unit can also be monitored and controlled remotely over the internet - providing networked distributed generation.
CFCL intends to conduct field trials of the NetGen(tm)unit in 2006.
CFCL also received a warm response to the alliance it recently announced with US-based Precision Flow Technologies Inc. to manufacture and market solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) test systems. The parties intend to provide test equipment for the growing worldwide market for SOFC development and testing.
The alliance combines CFCL's specialized know-how and experience in SOFC development, manufacture and testing, with Precision Flow Technologies' extensive manufacturing experience and its established international installations of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) test systems.
With more than 2,200 participants-representing over 36 different countries- the Fuel Cell Seminar is the largest fuel cell meeting in the world.
Apart from exhibiting at the Seminar, CFCL's Chief Technology Officer, Dr Karl Föger, was invited to present to the Fuel Cell Seminar on the Development and Demonstration of CFCL's 1 kW Residential Micro-CHP System.
