As oil and natural gas deplete, Hydrogen is expected to become a leading source of power for cars, houses, fuel cells, and industrial plants in the future. President Bush and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of California have recently announced hydrogen initiatives.
Once acquired, the technology will offer a hydrogen substitute to industrials that are currently powered by high priced natural gas. It will maintain Syngas's net zero airborne emissions and will qualify for green house gas credits as well as Kyoto protocol credits. Fairchild's wholly owned subsidiary Syngas Energy, will acquire the licenses.
"The technology builds on our core gasification technologies giving us a solid base in midsize Hydrogen production. The field is wide open for Hydrogen applications to industry, and our approach is relatively unique. The same customers who buy M2's for synthetic gas would also be interested in hydrogen, so hydrogen based M2 is a natural addition to our product offering," commented Wilf Ouellette, President of Syngas. Robert Klein, President of Fairchild added, "The acquisition could make us a major player in the hydrogen power industry."
