Medis Technologies gains on outlook for new product (MDTL) By Mark Cotton

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Shares of Medis Technologies (MDTL) gained 10.6 percent to $16.55 after it forecast potential earnings from a new disposable Power Pack it is currently developing for use with cell phones and digital cameras. In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, the New York-based maker of fuel cell cartridges said if its Power Pack receives a positive reception among heavy users of cell phones and digital cameras, defined as those people who would buy at least six Power Packs a year, it could generate "approximately $6.00 per share after taxes," in extra earnings. Medis Technologies said this estimate takes into additional costs for overhead, marketing and advertising linked to launching a new product. The company said the new Power Pack would likely sell at a retail price of around $14.95.
