Next November, Zaragoza will become an international center for hydrogen technologies and fuel cells. From November 22nd to November 25th the capital of the Spanish region of Aragón will hold the 2nd Professional Meeting on Hydrogen and Fuel Cells and the 2nd European Energy Conference.

World known experts will gather in both events, aiming at analyzing the achievements made and assess the potential for application of these technologies in the daily life as part of a more reasonable and sustainable energy system.

The initiative is promoted by the European Hydrogen Association (EHA), the Spanish Hydrogen Association (AeH), the Spanish Minister for Science and Education (MEC), the Institute for Energy Saving and Diversification (IDAE), and Aragon's Industry, Trade and Tourism Department.

According to the data released by the organizers to Europa Press, up to one thousand experts are expected at the meeting, which has scheduled more than one hundred communications and fifty business and trade presentations. The meetings will be complemented by an outdoor exhibition with hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles that various manufactures will show to the atendees, so as life examples of hydrogen production.

"In future scenarios in which we can have clean and endless energy sources, hydrogen and fuel cells are presented as a necessary complement for those energy sources to be used in some of the applications, such as vehicles or energy supply reliability tools", they point out at the Spanish Hydrogen Association.

"In the mid term, while we keep on using fossil fuels, hydrogen and fossil fuels can contribute to a rational and efficient energy use, and a cut in environmental impact rates, notably at local level" say the experts. However, alone "they are not the solution to the energy system problems, however they open important ways to sustainability".
