MRT reports technology progress with Government of Canada support

VANCOUVER, BC - September 26, 2005 - Membrane Reactor Technologies Ltd.(MRT), a designer and developer of hydrogen generation and purification systems, today announced several significant steps in commercialising the company's patented processes for delivering ultra-high purity hydrogen.

MRT is looking to accelerate the introduction of clean fuels to the transportation and power industries based on development successes:

1. through Natural Resources Canada contributions, the science of applying advanced materials and processes to the manufacture of hydrogenselective membranes has been enhanced

2. the National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program funding has enabled advanced research on packaging and products on the new membranes, leading to a prototype P100 purifier ready for field test

3. the Canadian Transportation Fuel Cell Alliance (NRCan) supported a Preliminary Engineering and site study with Enbridge Gas and BOC that determined:

-hydrogen could be delivered safely with MRT’s unique and advanced pure hydrogen generators based on the current NGV fuelling station infrastructure

-much of the carbon contained in natural gas can be captured at the fuelling station, improving the environmental profile of transportation fuels

-Total contributions from Canada to date have exceeded C$ 1,100,000 “We are pleased to have received this support from Natural Resources Canada and the National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) to advance the performance of our proprietary Membrane Reactor technologies. The hydrogen selective membrane has been proven to be reliable in demonstration units and subsequent testing at the Fuel Cell Innovation Centre in Vancouver and now we move on to the commercial application of the membranes and products,” said Michael Rushton, President and CEO of MRT.

About Membrane Reactor Technologies
MRT is a Vancouver-based private company focused on creating opportunities for customers and partners to use hydrogen more profitably. The company’s patented Membrane Reactor process combines the reforming of hydrocarbons, shift conversion and the purification of hydrogen in one simple, cost-effective step.

The system is built around dramatically improved metallic membranes that purify hydrogen rich streams for fuel cell, industrial and commercial applications.

MRT has developed novel ways to produce hydrogen and carbon dioxide from many renewable and sustainable feedstocks including biogases from digesters
and methane collectors.
