Medis is opening this design contest to the public in order to gain access to national industrial designers or others of the public who might have ideas on cool and sleek external designs for the Power Pack product. Medis is currently working with various industrial design companies and has already received design concepts from four of those companies for the power pack. The contest is presented on the Medis website where entrants can download an application and various other required documents. The contest winner will be announced at the CTIA Wireless I.T. and Entertainment 2005 show in San Francisco in September. The contest winner will have the opportunity to take a trip for two to Medis' fully automated manufacturing facility, which is expected to be located either in Ireland or Puerto Rico, and be able to see the actual manufacturing process as well as receive Power Pack units for their own use.
"The Medis Power Pack is such an innovative and cutting edge technology that we want the product to exhibit both aspirational as well as functional qualities," said Robert K. Lifton, Chairman and CEO of Medis Technologies. "Although the product technology is completed, we do have a certain amount of flexibility in the external configuration. By providing an opportunity for the public to submit designs for our consideration we hope to see a flow of innovative ideas that can help us capture the sleek and exciting look that we believe our break-through technology warrants.
As we have announced, Medis has been delivering on schedule its newest version of the fuel cell power pack product to potential customers in the commercial and military markets and has received very positive feedback on the idea of holding a design contest. Our potential customers have shown a strong interest in reviewing those design ideas and providing feedback on the designs that are submitted. The final production design will ultimately be chosen by Medis in its sole discretion from among the designs developed by its industrial design firms or submitted in the contest and will be implemented in its commercial products."
Those interested in participating in the contest can find the information at the Medis website at http://www.medistechnologies.com which contains the Official Rules & Regulations.
Medis Technologies' primary focus is on direct liquid fuel cell technology. Its business strategy is to sell its products to end users through retail outlets and service providers. Medis has also developed the CellScan with many potential applications relating to disease diagnostics and chemo sensitivity. Additionally, Medis' product pipeline includes other technologies, in varying stages of development.
