| The Edison
Materials Technology Center has contracted with Powdermet Inc. to conduct
research on hydrogen technology, the company announced today.
EMTEC awarded Powdermet, which is
based in Euclid, $218,266 to test manufacturability of hydrogen storage
balloons. Hydrogen powers fuel cells, which are devices that generates
electricity.
Fuel cells may be used in the future
to power such things as cell phones and laptop computers. They also could
be used to power cars and trucks, and they would have zero emissions.
EMTEC is a Kettering-based nonprofit
focusing on commercialization opportunities for potentially high-growth
materials technology.
