Using a $3.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will offer 28 doctoral students training in fuel-cell science and engineering.

The students will begin their studies in 2005, and will receive full tuition, as well as an annual $30,000 stipend.

RPI will contribute $1.6 million to the program, which will involve faculty and facilities from six academic departments.

In addition, six research and students centers at RPI will take part in the program, and faculty at RPI will also collaborate with faculty from the University of Puerto Rico.
