For the past 14 months Plug Power has been providing backup power to a remote cell tower in Elgin, Scotland, in collaboration with FDT and their customer Orange, one of the world's most advanced and fastest growing mobile communications companies. The cell site is situated in a forest, 1,500 feet above sea level at the Huntly Nordic Ski Center training site, and provides telecommunication coverage between Rhynie and Elgin. The system has provided more than 2,750 hours of backup power to the site since installation.
