Hydrogen scooters will be part of the fleet of vehicles used for transport in Turin during the 2006 Winter Games.

The scooters will be produced by Hysylab, the laboratory specialized in hydrogen research based at Turin's Environment Park.

The first two scooters are ready and were presented to the Piedmont authorities in Piazza Castello.

The scooters can run without refuelling for two hours and have a maximum speed of 22 km/h. They generate no exhaust fumes - the only residue is water.

The scooters refuel at the Environment Park.

Piedmont Regional President Mercedes Bresso, Turin Mayor Sergio Chiamparino and Turin Provincial Government President Antonio Saitta tried the scooters out in Piazza Castello.

Hysylab is also developing domestic hydrogen heaters and yacht motors. The domestic hydrogen heaters should be ready in two years time and then mass produced by 2010. The yacht motors may take a little longer. RED
