Cellex Power Products, Inc. Completes Successful Field Trial with $2 Million (CDN) Contribution from Sustainable Development Technology Canada.

Vancouver, BC – February 24th, 2005 – Cellex Power™ announces the successful completion of its consortium led demonstration field trials at Canadian retailer London Drugs as part of a $2M (CDN) contribution from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) that was announced on April 2nd, 2004.

The project included the development and demonstration of Cellex’s initial zero emission, 24 volt, fuel cell power solution designed to replace industrial lead acid batteries and internal combustion engines used to power fork-lift trucks that operate in large distribution centres around the world. The demonstration involved four of Cellex’s Alpha units that powered rider pallet trucks and included on-site hydrogen fueling supported by BOC.

Off-road vehicles, including fork-lifts, contribute nearly 13% of global total of transportation-related green house gases emissions.

Mr. Chris Reid, Cellex’s President and CEO commented, “During the demonstrations Cellex’s products ran longer than batteries; refueled much quicker than swapping a battery; and the trucks powered by our products were able to run at a consistent maximum power. Our fuel cell products will eventually replace the battery room and the handling of lead and acid in the workplace.” Reid added “Receiving support from SDTC is appreciated and important for the success of the hydrogen fuel cell industry. These demonstrations help advance industry codes and standards relating to the use of hydrogen and lead the way for other businesses and industries involved in the hydrogen economy.”

“Our strategic goal is to support companies such as Cellex accelerate development and demonstration of their groundbreaking clean technologies to reach market success” said Vicky J. Sharpe, SDTC’s President and CEO. “We also see the investment in hydrogen-powered industrial vehicles as the pathway to affordable clean power for all types of vehicles.”
