 Calif. firm expands operations in Santa Fe

ARES Corp. of California has announced it will open a clean energy business unit that will provide market assessments, valuation, feasibility studies and business risk management services for the clean energy industry.

The new business unit will operate out of the company's Santa Fe office and is expected to open March 1.

Technical services that will be offered by the new business unit include risk assessment and risk management, particularly in the areas of hydrogen energy and distributed generation.

ARES, founded in 1993, is a privately held provider of engineering, risk management and project management consulting services, and has more than a dozen offices in the United States and Canada, including three in New Mexico. The company's business units focus on engineering and construction, aerospace, defense, chemicals, energy and others.

It's New Mexico-based customers include Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory and the state's Economic Development Department. Others include Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW), Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW) and 3M Company (NYSE: MMM)
